Update

From cold showers, to no knives, to craving vegetables, we have had quite the adventure in Iquitos so far.  We have not started working with the kids yet, but have had a fun time getting to know the city. Motocars are the primary source of transportation and the streets are filled with them and motorcycles. So highlights of our trip:
-Going to our host family's country house for a birthday party, BBQ, and dancing
-Spending the day at their version of a waterpark...with really good food and a lagoon
-Sitting outside one of the bars along the river and watching as the sun sets
-Really fresh food
-Eating vegetables at a restaurant for the first time on the trip (2 or 3 days in)
-A boat ride to see where the river merges into one and is split into two colors; half black and half brown
-Exploring the market
-Going out to a karaoke bar, music festival, and the disco in one night
-Peruvian coffee at a cafe overlooking the river

We are so excited to spend more time in this beautiful place and immerse ourselves more in this amazing culture.

Buenas Noches!
